About me

Dan Higgs, MBACP (Accred), Dip Couns, BSc (Hons)

I specialize in supporting adults and young people aged 10 to 18, providing a safe and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable sharing their concerns. Understanding that each person’s therapeutic journey is unique, I focus on creating a practical, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes the importance of a strong and trusting bond between client and counsellor.

I hold a postgraduate qualification in counselling, which I earned in 2021, and completed specialized training to work with young people in 2022. My professional experience includes working in a counselling service for young people, contributing to a trauma-focused charity, and running my own private practice supporting children, adolescents, and adults.

As an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I adhere to their strict ethical guidelines.

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I am influenced by various approaches that inform my work.  This means that I recognise that all clients have unique life experiences and that one approach does not fit all.  I draw on different theoretical approaches that influence how I work with you, depending on your needs.

In particular, I recognise that it can be helpful to look at past experiences to understand current difficulties in relationships.  I am a thoroughly modern counsellor and am dedicated to providing counselling in a straightforward, non-judgmental and relaxed setting.
